Essence Cosmetics - Foundations.
When I first laid my eyes on the Essence Collection, I was blown away with the low prices on all of their products, from lip liners and glosses to nail varnish and eye-shadow, but I have to admit that it also made me a little skeptical of how good the products would be.
As someone who is a sucker for finding a good price I thought I would test out their range here on my blog one product at a time.
I would also like to mention they are a brand who do not test on animals.
You can find the range at your local Wilko's or The Essence Cosmetics online store.
Essence Cosmetics is also available in the USA ; you can find it at Ulta and Walgreen's
- & Canada ; you can find it at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Soft Touch Mousse - £3.80
Soft & Natural -
This foundations gives a light to medium coverage, leaning a little more toward to the sheer side, but is build-able to a nice medium coverage but still has a very soft and natural finish as the name implies.
It is not a matte finish foundation but is also not a dewy finish either, and really is more natural with a bit of a sheen. The finish you get it beautiful though, leaving the skin looking soft and smooth without looking or becoming 'cakey' at all.
I didn't have a problem with this foundation massively changing colour after reacting with oxygen and my skin, and it also didn't become patchy or try to separate either throughout the day, which is something I constantly struggle with.
It lasts a good amount of time on the skin without problems of it wearing off or becoming too oily, even after around seven hours of wear, so overall I'm impressed with this foundation, especially at such an affordable price and will definitely be reaching for it more often, I highly suggest you check this out if you like that more soft and natural look.
All About Matt! -
Again, I would say that this foundation is light to medium coverage, but this time it didn't really lean one way or the other, it seemed like a true light to medium where the amount you apply determines the coverage you will get.
This is definitely more of a matte finish than the last, as it again insists with the name, and gives a gorgeous smooth and soft matte finish which leaves the skin looking almost airbrushed, which is something I won't complain about!
There were no problems with the formula begin patchy or uneven at all, even when building up the coverage and adding a little more foundation, I also didn't find that the colour altered either after being on my skin for a while, which can really change the look of your whole makeup when that happens.
I find that this lasts a good amount of time on the skin, without changing, wearing off or moving at all and it also didn't become oily, which surprised me a lot, as most matte
finish foundations will need touching up with a little powder throughout the day, as
certain areas on my face can get very oily.
Overall I'm quite impressed so far with this and think I will try using it more often,
and I think it is a great product for such a good price too, I would highly recommend.
Soft Touch Mousse -
This foundation does reminds me a lot of the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation,
the jar is very similar, the formula and consistency are also very alike, although I have not used that foundation since my early days of secondary school many years ago.
The formula is soft to touch, although definitely too dark for my skin tone, even in the lighter shades, which is something I find happens a lot being so pale skinned.
I would say this good medium coverage but tries to be full yet natural at the same time, which personally I don't think works for this foundation. I found that although it was quick to blend into the skin it was very patchy, being more full coverage in some areas and less in others.
I also found that it wasn't easy to build up the coverage in the areas that were more sheer either, which is a shame, as it is a lovely semi-matte finish, which is very soft and doesn't look 'cakey' or like you are wearing layers of foundation.
Overall I would say this is my least favourite of the three that I have tried, and that I'm not really all that impressed with it and don't think it will be a foundation I will reach for.
Leave a comment below and let me know if you have tried any of the Essence Cosmetics foundation and which you recommend.
