10 Simple Tips For Clearer Skin

A lot of people suffer with spots or at least with the occasional breakout, and honestly, most of us just want the secret to clearer and healthier skin with immediate results.

The truth is, there is no magic wand to get rid of our pimples or dark under-eye circles, it really is just about looking after your skin the best you can.

Of course though, there are a few little tips and tricks to help prevent those breakouts from happening, so I have put together a few of my favourite personal tips that I personally swear by to help you achieve clearer skin.

As someone who suffered a lot in school with bad skin and acne, and would constantly have people making comments about buying me face wash for my birthday, I spent a lot of time trying my hardest to get the clear skin I thought I must have to please everybody else.

And although I finally realised I wanted healthier skin for myself and not for the pleasure of bullies and what other people thought, I did learn some very helpful tips along the way.

1 - Drink Water!

Although this is said a lot and by a lot of people, honestly there are so many health benefits from making sure you are drinking plenty of water on a daily basis.

For one, it will clear out any bad toxins from your body that can cause you to feel sluggish, bloated, poorly, or that may be causing breakouts.

And secondly, it will keep your body and skin properly hydrated, which in the long run will help with dark circles and making your skin softer and clearer.

2 - Take Your Makeup Off!

This may sound like such an obvious one, but it would seem that so many people still go to bed with a full face of makeup on, and I cannot stress enough to make sure that you are taking any product off and properly washing your face every night.

Although using a face wipe is faster and may seem like it has done the job okay, after using a wipe you need to be sure to go in with warm water and a facial wash afterwards to properly ensure that all traces of makeup and chemicals from the face wipe are out of your pores and washed off to prevent clogging of your pores which in turn will cause breakouts.

3 - Change Your Pillow Cases Regularly!

Making sure that you are changing your sheets and pillow cases every other day will really help in preventing those spots and seeing a difference in your skin.

While we sleep we are getting all kinds of oils from our hair and faces on to that pillowcase, as-well as any dry or dead skin we may not have noticed was there, which we then proceeded to lay our faces on the next night and sleep on, so being sure to regularly clean and change you sheets is extremely important!

4 - Exfoliate!

Doing this will help to remove any dry or dead skin cells from your face and body that you may not have realised were there, as-well as giving your skin a deeper clean than usual.

Doing this twice a week on top of your usual daily routine will really help you noticed a difference in both the clearness and softness of your skin.

Or using a daily scrub will really help to ensure you are getting rid of any dry skin if you suffer at all with general dry skin or pimples that dry out the skin around them.

5 - Use A Moisturiser And Toner!

Using a moisturiser and toner in your daily routine is great for your skin!

A toner will help to tighten the pores on your face, making them less visible, and also calm the skin too as-well as keeping all the natural chemicals in your skin balanced.

By adding a moisturiser you will of course, keep the skin moisturised and hydrated.

Dehydration can cause both breakouts and dark circles, so wether you suffer with oily skin, or dry skin, adding a moisturiser is a must!

6 - Don't Over-Use Products!

The same as leaving loads of makeup on your skin while you sleep, over-loading huge amounts of product and creams onto your face before you sleep can have the same effect.

Although creams and facial products are suppose to skin into the skin, by adding too much product you are actually just clogging the pores on your face and not allowing the product to skin in, which in turn, will cause breakouts.

A little goes such a long way with facial products!

7 - Use Products With A Pump!

This may seem like an odd one, but using a product that has either a pump or squeeze-tube is a lot more hygienic than those without.

You are not having to dip your fingers into the product itself and then just put the lid back on, this lets the germs sit there on the product until you next use it and then you are applying that to your face full of germs.

8 - Don't Lean On Your Face!

This may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about pimples and breakouts, but leaning on your face is seriously no good for your skin, and is something that most of us do subconsciously without even noticing.

When we sit there with our hand pressed to our face we are beginning to heat that area of skin underneath, which alone can cause pimples, but you are also heating up any chemicals or germs that are on your hands and allowing those germs to multiply whilst against your face.

9 - Clean / Sanitise Hands!

Realistically we all touch or lean on our faces occasionally, and most of the time we may not have even realised that we were doing it.

Being sure to wash and sanitise your hand more regularly will make a massive difference when you do actually touch your skin, as you don't have a build up of germs just waiting to spread.

(Ew, lol!)

10 - Wash Your Hair Regular!

As someone who only ever wears my hair down, at least 90% of the time anyway, I consistently find that my hair is getting in my face, wether that be rubbing across my temples or finding its way across my nose, there seems to be no taming it!

So touching on what was said in tip number 3, when this happens the oils from your hair are rubbing across your face, so making sure that you are washing your hair regularly will help keep all of those oils and any dirt off of your skin as-well as off of your pillowcases.

Plus making sure you have clean/washed hair really should be a must for absolutely everyone!

Bear in mind that for these tips to really work and for you to really see a difference in the clearness of your skin, you will need to do these things together, consistently on a daily basis or every other day if required.

Let me know in the comments below if you found any of these tips helpful and any other useful tips that you swear by to keep your skin clear.
