French Connection - Lip Glosses
French Connection is a brand that I often associate with just clothing, rather than beauty products too, but they do indeed have a beauty range and many items to choose from, and because I was instantly drawn to the glosses, I decided that I wanted to try them out and give you guys my honest review and opinions.
For a brand that is more high-end, I think the retail price for these glosses are incredible, being only around £6 per gloss, which isn't anything more than you'd be paying for drugstore lip glosses, which is great. You can also find lip gloss sets that work out even better value for money as you can grab a pack of four glosses for only £12!
First thing first, lets talk packaging, I'm actually a huge fan of the look that they went for with these glosses, its very simple and elegant without being boring and I love the added touch of being able to see the actual shades, which honestly saves so much time digging around looking for the shade that you want.
I'm also a fan of the twist-to-release-product applicator, it gives you more control over the amount of product that you apply, has a super soft brush tip, it really is so simple to use and they just looks great too, which is always a positive.
Next I wanted to quickly talk about the shades, I don't particularly think they are anything special, they aren't really shades that I've never seen done before and there's only a small range of colours to choose from, but with that being said I really do think what they do have available are gorgeous shades and they are also seriously glossy, which I personally love.
Unfortunately none of the glosses are named or numbered, which makes things a little more awkward when sharing shades, but I believe they are different enough from one another to make it almost obvious which shade I'm showing/wearing, which in turn means it shouldn't be too hard to pick out the shade that you are looking for.
Moving on to the important part, and what you really want to know, the formula...
I was actually so pleasantly surprised when I first tried these out, as the formula was a lot thicker than I initially thought it would be, although not in a bad way like you may as first guess, but in a really good way, it still felt incredibly soft on the lips and generally doesn't really feel any different than other glosses I've used once its on. Or maybe I just applied too much haha!?
I also found the glosses to be super soft, smooth and seriously comfortable, almost like wearing nothing, but softer!
They aren't sticky or gloopy at all, yet still have such a great overall shine and gloss to them, which is perfect.
The part I was probably most excited about when I tried these was how opaque and pigmented they are, there are very little amount of glosses I've come across that have such great colour to them and it really blew me away for a second, the formula is consistent thoughtout all the shades I personally own, which made me instantly fall in love with these glosses completely.
I love how they apply so smoothly too, they go on even right away without any patchiness or brush streaks and there weren't any problem with the product sinking into the lines of my lips - which happens with so many lip products - so instantly they make your lips look smoother and more plump, which is always good, especially with thin lips like I have.
Being a lip gloss, they aren't long-lasting so you will need to reapply a few times throughout the day, I found that I was probably reapplying this around every 3 hours, to really help add the colour and gloss back to my lips, especially as the colour starts to fade a little after around 30 minutes of applying it, which is really to be expected from a gloss anyway I suppose, and even as it wears off it does so beautifully, without looking bad or patchy,
I own five of the shades available - although I am unsure how many there actually are to purchase - one being a deep red, then a rose pink, a nude shade, a darker pink with a hint of shimmer and a very light shade which I"d personally use as a lip topper, oppose to wearing alone.
Overall I do really like these glosses, they have a great price point, are super pigmented and glossy, and last a good amount of time on the lips. They also look great wore alone and over the top of another lip product, so they work for a variety of people, and I think they make for a good addition to my and many others' lip-gloss collections.
Let me know in the comments below if you've ever tired the French Connection Lip Glosses, what your thoughts were and any other French Connection products you would recommend, I'm officially intrigued to try more!
